UV WHISTLER JIG From NorthlandThanks to its unique metallic propeller, Northland Fishing Tackle’s iconic Whistler Jig® has been whistling, flashing and fluttering up big catches of walleyes, pike, bass and other gamefish for decades.

For 2016, Northland has enhanced the legendary jig’s powers of attraction with new optically brightened, high-vis UV colors that catch and reflect the sun’s ultraviolet rays—creating the new UV Whistler Jig®.

“These optically brightened UV finishes make it easier for fish to see the UV Whistler Jig® in low-light conditions and in stained or muddy water,” says tournament champion and multi-species mastermind Mark Martin. “There is also a new glow color for extra attraction after dark.”

Based on input from the company’s hard-fishing contingent of Team Northland® pro staffers, the UV Whistler Jig® also features a sleek new head design, complete with realistic fish-scale patterns and more lifelike eyes. “Combining the propeller’s flash, vibration and sound with optically enhanced UV colors creates the ultimate in fish attraction,” says Martin. “Tweaking the head design and eyes is icing on the cake.”

Like the Original Whistler Jig®, it works great cast or jigged, tipped with live bait such as fatheads and shiners, as well as a variety of artificial softbaits such as Northland’s IMPULSE® Smelt Minnow.

UV Whistler Jig® is available in six Team Northland®-chosen colors and 1/8-, 1/4- and 3/8-ounce weights. The smallest sizes features a #2 hook, while the two larger versions have a 1/0 hook. Suggested retails range from $3.19 to $3.49 per 2 jigs, and $7.49 to $8.49 per 6 jigs, depending on size.
