If you like to hunt wild hogs on a regular basis, listen up. Here are the three best calibers to do it with!

Believe it or not, narrowing down the calibers to only three has become extremely difficult when considering most big-game animals. However, hog hunting comes in many different shapes and sizes, making it even tougher.

Some hog hunters only want to shoot at hogzilla, while others prefer to pick off the little guys for bettering eating.

No matter what camp you’re in, you have to check out these American hog destroyers!

1. .308 Winchester

Shooting a hog with a .308 seems to get the job done better than any of its competitors. Some great firearm choices for hog hunting in this caliber are the Smith and Wesson M&P 10 and the Browning BAR ShorTrac Hog Stalker.

If for some reason you have doubts about shooting a .308, just take a look at the what happens at the 3:25 mark in the video!

2. .30-06 Springfield

Very similar to the .308, the .30-06 has long been one of the most widely used deer rifles. Well, guess what? It works great for shooting at hogs, too.  This caliber is accurate, powerful and deadly, even in the hands of novice hunters.

To check out a great summation of the differences between the way both perform in the field, listen to this guy break down the nitty gritty details.

3. .270 Winchester

The .270 is just simple and effective. Put in the right spot, a bolt-action .270 packs enough punch and penetration to get the job done on the little piglets, as well as the full-grown feral hogs!

Be sure to jump to the 4:55 mark in the video to see the way a .270 can make Texas hog drop right in its tracks!
