Cooper’s Rock State Forest. Birds singing high in the tree tops don’t always give us many options. With an overcast day and bright sky behind the bird, a silhouette was a good option. Canon 7D Mark II, 400mm f/5.6. Exposure: 1/800, f/8, ISO 500.

Biography

I am an avid amateur and want to take it to the next level. I love photojournalism and using my photographs to make a difference. Wildlife and landscape photography is close to my heart and I think it has the power to change public opinion.

Core Arboretum, Morgantown, WV. Shooting in the forest can be difficult with a maximum aperture of 5.6. Thankfully, there was a shaft of light coming through the trees and this little brown bird decided to give me a good shot. Canon 7D Mark II, 400mm f/5.6. Exposure: 1/1250, f/5.6, ISO 1600.

Tobago. I did not have my tripod with me on this hike so at a shutter speed of 1.8 seconds I had to wedge myself between a rock to steady myself. I did this because I wanted the silky water. Exposure: 1.8 seconds, f/16, ISO 100.

Morgantown, WV. Watching and waiting is the main concern with bird photography as well as being out at the right time of day, generally in the morning. Canon 7D Mark II and 400mm f/5.6. Exposure: 1/250, f/9, ISO 500.
