The Oklahoma Wardens caught yet another road hunter.
The Oklahoma Game Wardens recently busted a hunter who was illegally taking out turkeys.
Once again, it was a tip from the public that clued in wardens Blake Pearson and Mark Murray to a suspect. The subject of interest was seen pointing a rifle at turkeys in a field in Kingfisher County. Wardens actually received several calls complaining of this happening. Fortunately, a landowner in the area was finally able to get a license plate number off the suspect’s vehicle. This tip led wardens to the suspect working on a drilling rig April 13.
It turns out the poacher had illegally killed five tom turkeys with a .223 rifle with a suppressor. Poaching with a suppressor in leads to an additional $500 charge in Oklahoma.
The unnamed suspect faced charges for hunting without landowner consent, shooting from a public roadway and illegal possession of wildlife. It’s possible the poacher will have to pay restitution charges for the turkeys in the case, too.
