Check Out Ron Spomer's Wyoming Pronghorn Hunt

Watch as renowned outdoor writer and photographer Ron Spomer heads out west to pursue one of the most iconic prairie species on his Wyoming pronghorn hunt.

After nearly going extinct at the beginning of the 20th Century, large numbers of pronghorn now inhabit many western states. Though Wyoming is overshadowed by Arizona and New Mexico in the pronghorn record books, the Cowboy State still has some of the best pronghorn hunting opportunities in the world. After all, a Wyoming pronghorn hunt is the first thing that comes to mind for many people when they picture hunting speed goats.

Ron Spomer made this excellent video documenting the dramatic hunter-led recovery of pronghorn, which has occurred over the last century, as well as one of his recent spot-and-stalk pronghorn hunts in Wyoming.

Nice shot, Ron! That looks like a really nice, old pronghorn buck

Particularly when using ammunition designed for rapid energy transfer like the Nosler Ballistic tip, the flat shooting .25-06 Remington cartridge is an ideal choice for hunting thin skinned game like pronghorn. That particular load he was using pushes a 100-grain bullet at 3,300 feet per second and carries over 1,000 foot pounds of energy out past 400 yards.

That is great ammo for hunting animals like deer and pronghorn in open country like that part of Wyoming. As you can see, Ron placed his shot perfectly and dropped the buck right in its tracks.
