Well, it looks like the August slow down has finally hit NW PA. Not to say that fish aren’t biting, but that anglers are not out fishing—according to many area tackle shops I talk with to compile this Report. One shop in Mer-cer County has actually closed down for the balance of year due to lack of customers. And anglers who fish the Shenango River below the Sharpsville dam got more bad news to-day—the Fish Commission announced the level of PCBs in fish samples from the lower Shenango are so high there is a no–eat advi-sory from the dam to the mouth of the She-nango, AND future trout stocking below the Shenango Dam has been canceled until levels are safe. But its not all bad news. Erie walleye & perch bite is hot, also smallmouth bite on the Allegheny, plus bluegills, bass & catfish are eating. Of course you’ve got to be out on the water to catch them…GO FISH!
