Women's Camo

While some brands simply shrink it and pink it, these four camo companies are creating women’s hunting clothing the right way.

Here’s a who’s-who of clothing brands serving the female hunting demographic, ones that are fulfilling a need that’s been clear cut for years, but up until lately been hard to satisfy.

The companies mentioned here are well worth checking out, and all helping further the role and position of women in the hunting industry.

Prois Hunting

One of the only companies exclusively designing hunting clothing for ladies, Prois was founded in 2008 by Kirstie Pike, an avid hunter who wasn’t satisfied with the women’s options on the market.

Prois produces high-quality women’s hunting jackets and hunting pants as well as base layers and accessories for big-game hunters, with durable raingear and windproof options featuring exclusive Veil camo prints. The Pradlann line includes brush pants, game vests and blaze orange pullovers that fit the female upland hunter frame.

The company frequently offers new products, special offers and discounts, so check the Prois website often.

DSG Outerwear

Another women’s only brand, DSG has its roots in snow sports apparel, so you can be sure its camo clothing will keep you warm during long treestand sits. The Kylie – a 3-in-1 piece with a built-in fleece jacket – and the Ava soft shell are both great options for deer hunting and available in Realtree Edge or TrueTimber Strata.

DSG also offers ultra-light ripstop camo pants and longsleeves for warm-weather turkey hunts. I own a set of the Bexley, and it’s great for running and gunning on hot spring mornings.

Sitka Gear

While Sitka isn’t a woman-owned company and sells more men’s gear, the ladies lines are incredibly well-thought by female hunters and boast unique features that make life much more enjoyable in the field.

I field tested the women’s waterfowl line prior to its debut in 2019, and the Hudson Bib – equipped with a drop seat for outdoor bathroom breaks – was one of my favorite hunting pieces of all time.

The unbelievably warm Fanatic line is even better in its second iteration, with strategically mapped insulation that accounts for the way a woman’s body loses heat.

And details like built-in face masks on their 1/4-zip hoodies as well as toasty kangaroo pockets that eliminate the need for bulky gloves make these women’s pieces some of the most functional field wear.

With camo jacket and shirt sizes running from XS-XXL and pant sizes from 25-40, Sitka Gear can accommodate petite and plus-size hunters.

First Lite

Another company not solely dedicated to female hunters but still producing excellent women’s gear is First Lite. The company’s merino wool base layers are some of the best out there and are available in every style from tank top to short sleeve shirt to crewneck longsleeve.
