Bowhunter Rod Lawver got really lucky on this one.

Yes, he bagged a big, 10-point buck. But that wasn’t the lucky part.

The lucky part was that he ended up taking a bad shot … and still bagging the buck.

Lawver hunts on a 5-acre piece of land in Cecil County, Maryland. The property is part of a creek bottom connected to hundreds of acres of woods.

He knew the 10-pointer was out there because it showed up on trail cams.

Lawver hunted the property four times before getting a shot at the buck.

It was a little after 9 a.m. Sept. 30, and Lawver was about ready to call it a morning. That’s when the 10-pointer sauntered in. At 25 yards, he took the shot.

And knew it hit way back on the buck. He admits, “I didn’t do my part very well.”

Lawver was expecting to have a long day tracking the big boy. He was shocked to find the him down just 35 yards from where he shot it. Can you say femoral artery?

Every bowhunter makes a bad shot now and then, but not everyone gets this lucky!
