Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Life Is A Long, Quiet River” by Pierre-Emmanuel Chaillon. Location: Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Canada.

“A few pelicans resting on the rapids on the Slave River (NT),” describes Chaillon. “These pelicans had just finished fishing and were resting calmly during the last moments of brightness. This one-shot photo has a beautiful contrast between the blur of the river and sharpness of the birds. Long exposure is always challenging with animals, but in this situation it reinforces the action, or rather the calm, of the birds along this rapids.”

Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including AssignmentsGalleries and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage, FacebookTwitter and Instagram. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
