Snow days are always nice bonuses, but this day was particularly special for the Christon brothers.

Back in January, Marcus Christon, the father of brothers Tyler and M.J., picked his sons up from school when he found out it was closed.

He went home and surprised them with a trip to the treestand. They headed to a trusty box blind with a heater to fight off the cold. The temperature was around 16 degrees with the wind howling. The stand they chose had buck activity the previous week.

As fate would have it, the buck came out about 250 yards away. The buck worked his way closer to the stand where he took a 120-yard shot from M.J. The buck piled up 30 yards from where it was shot.

With one buck on the ground, they still had plenty of time for more action to unfold.

About 30 minutes later, a big 10-point buck came into the field. Tyler missed the first shot, but the buck worked in closer and he made a second shot that hit the mark.

Marcus is a conservation officer with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. When he’s not protecting our resources, he’s out enjoying them.

This won’t be a day any of them soon forget. Congratulations!
