Fall Wildlife Assignment Winner Gene Putney

Congratulations to Gene Putney of Putney Nature Images for winning the recent Fall Wildlife Assignment with the image, “Rocky Mountain Bull Elk.”

Captured in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, Putney explains, “At first I could not see this bull and his harem below the ridge; I could just hear his bugle in response to other bulls that were nearby bugling. With the autumn colors of the aspen trees for a background, I knew it would be a nice setting if he decided to make an appearance. Through wishful thinking, he gave me my opportunity as he charged up the hill to get a better viewpoint to protect his harem.”
