Ever wonder what a typical day is like for the founder of Mossy Oak?

Many hunters likely dream of having their own outdoor brand. Not many are able to make that dream a reality like Toxey Haas did in 1986. He was one of the first to use sticks and leaves in a camo pattern and eventually grew his small company into the juggernaut that you know as Mossy Oak.

What does the founder of such a successful brand do on a typical day off? Well, it’s what you might expect.

Haas headed into the field with Can-Am ATVs to film this short “day in the life” segment where he talks about where he hunts and the stewardship aspects of hunting.

Every day is probably not like this for Haas. We know he probably spends his share of time in offices and on phone calls growing his brand like any business owner. At the same time, it’s good to see he hasn’t forgotten his roots of what made Mossy Oak so successful. He’s out there doing the dirty work of maintaining his hunting property just like the rest of us. That’s what you call living the American Dream.

Most of you probably know exactly what he means about the great outdoors being “medicinal” and a way to escape the stresses of everyday life. It’s nice to see the rare owner of a big company who understands the draw of America’s wild spaces.

We also appreciate what he said about being a “gamekeeper” and about taking care of the land. It’s something we’ve stressed here at Wide Open Spaces before. Hunters have a responsibility to be good stewards of the wilderness areas they utilize for hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. If our group doesn’t take steps to care for and preserve these areas, there aren’t a whole lot of others who will.
